It was a harrowing day, and for a long time afterwards, every time I closed my eyes I was still in that water, waving for help, struggling to get out. "I got to a point where I was pretty sure I would never make it out of the water, and my wife was on the beach watching, on the phone with 911. "I was very lucky that a brave young man leapt into the riptide to save me and we managed to get back to shore with a lot of effort," he continued. ![]() ![]() ![]() Mortified, I locked myself in a bedroom at the cottage for the rest of the afternoon. Sunny and Miller must have returned from their “walk in the forest” somewhere between Benji’s insult and my jumping Randy, because when I opened my eyes, there they were, witnesses to my attack. Benji’s freak-out had become mere static in the background. ![]() Despite my unexpected assault, he’d kissed me back. His beard was soft where it touched my lips and chin. Mostly I wanted to kiss Randy’s face for what he’d done. I played it off as though I’d done it to make Benji jealous. So I did what any hot-blooded Canadian woman would when a hot man-hockey player or not-threatened extreme violence on her behalf: I grabbed his face and stuck my tongue in his mouth. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Things take a turn for the worse when Louise and David stop resisting their attraction to one another and start an affair, further entangling the mother of one in David's estranged marriage. Though the two are instantly attracted to one another, it goes crashing when Louise learns that not only is David married, but he's also her boss! David's wife, Adele (Eve Hewson), seems eager for friendship, and even though she's still attracted to the woman's husband, Louise strikes up a secretive friendship with her. Louise (played by Simona Brown), a single mother looking to mingle, bumps into the handsome David (Tom Bateman) after being ghosted on a date. To be fair, the series hints at the big twist throughout each episode. ![]() It's an ending that manages to turn the entire story on its head and does justice for none of the characters - especially not the woman at the center of it all. The show keeps the book's most vital plot points, which unfortunately includes the story's twisted finale. If there's one compliment we could give the show, it's that it's a faithful remake of the book, aside from some minute details that don't alter the story too much. If you haven't already watched Behind Her Eyes, Netflix's adaptation of Sarah Pinborough's 2018 novel, then I recommend you turn back now, because I'm about to spoil the hell out of the big "twist" at the end of the series. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He worked on several large construction projects in the area, including the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville and the parks at Devil’s Den and Lake Wedington.
